"When in doubt...make it stout!"--Frank Magoon

Training Courses have been provided for the following customers:

MIT Lincoln Labs -- "Introduction to Microwave Design"

Transmission lines, Smith chart, CAD techniques, filters, amplifiers, receivers, oscillators, PLL synthesizers, waveguide, system calculations.  Course concentrated on teaching engineers from outside the field how to design simple RF and Microwave circuits.

Frequency Sources Inc -- Technician Level "Fundamentals of Microwaves"

How synthesizers, oscillators, GUNN diodes, amplifiers, filters, and sub-systems work.  Test equipment operation/peculiarities, phase noise measurement, post tuning drift measurement.

Advanced TechCom Inc -- Technician Level "Fundamentals of Wireless Communications"

Amplifier, filter, receiver, transmitter, predistorter, modulation, PLL operation.  Communications specific testing: EMI/RFI, emissions mask, BER, receiver threshold, linearity, spurious signal, phase noise, and troubleshooting techniques

Allow us to custom tailor a course for your specific needs:

  • Quickly acclimate new technicians to the vagaries of Microwave Component and System operation
  • Give Microwave Component performance insight to Digital Designers, Systems Engineers, PCB Layout Designers, Product Designers, Purchasing Agents

We have found these courses to be very cost effective.  Technicians learn to appreciate WHAT they are doing, instead of treating the Microwave portion of their job as some sort of magic.  Their productivity increases, and the course sparks interest in improving their technical background through additional training.  More dialogue between the technicians and the design engineers is fostered--leading to improvement in future designs, failure analysis/corrective action, and product reliability.  Courses are often scheduled at lunch time, once per week, with the company supplying lunch for those willing to donate their time.
